Wanted: load for 260 gr cast for 41 mag
« on: October 26, 2004, 06:57:44 AM »
New (to me) mould should arrive today or tomorrow. I will only have a couple of days to put together a load before deer season starts. Don't worry any loads posted wil be "worked up to" per SOP. This is a non-checked bullet and will be cast from WW.
Just another worthless opinion!!

I cast a 255 WFNGC for my SBH 41 Hunter, this is a custom mould designed for the SBH cylinder ,noselength on the bullet is .420 and it has a gas check .With H110-22.0gr 1340----24.0-1450( MAX)
These are cast with wheelweights.Hope this helps.
What revolver are you shooting??What is the noselength on the 260gr bullet??

The bullets I cast dropped at about .406 and 275 gr. I knew I was taking a chance when I bid on this mould because conflicting resources had it as either a .40 caliber or a .41 caliber. It appears that it is probably the .40 caliber designed for a  .41 rifle cartridge. However I gave it a try anyway. Suprisingly, dispite being quite a bit undersized to what my BH likes initial loads show some potential. If I play around with my alloy I may be able to gain some size but it won't happen in time for deer season.
