nikon monarch ucc in 3.3-10,44mm or 3.5-10,50mm???
« on: November 09, 2004, 03:08:15 PM »
i've been looking at these 2 scopes pretty heavily to put on my next long range rifle which will be either one of the 7mm mags or 300mags. after reading the specs on the 2 scopes it seems the only real difference is the 44mm has a little bit bigger field of view and an AO. my question is, with the high quality optics found on the 2 scopes is there much advantage in getting the 50mm over the 44mm for light gathering ability? does a 6mm larger objective really make any difference? on a side note, a buddy of mine has the 5.5-16.6,44mm and it worked great in low light situations in wyoming earlier this fall. which one would you get?

I personally would go with the 44mm objective.  You will not tell much difference at all between the 44 and 50.  Also you will be able to get by with a lower rings which is a plus.
