Is anyone out there from Illinois? I was thinking of saving some money by buying my sidekick from the dallas based company mentioned on another post. Dallas says they can ship muzzle loaders anywhere, its up to me to know state local laws. I call il. st. police. They tell me i must show my FOID (firearms owner I-D card). I ask if a faxed copy is enough. They told me they were not sure. I was on hold for 10 minutes while they checked up the chain of command. they are still not sure. If there is anyone from Il. who has had the same problem, I would appreciate some advice.

I'm from Illinois and I have found the regulations regarding muzzleloaders growing somewhat confusing for the past few years as well.   Some suppliers will still ship them to Illinois residents without any restrictions, others do ask for a faxed copy of your FOID card.  Before a few years ago, they would all ship them without a FOID card on file.  I don't know what law, if any, was enacted to require them to ask for a FOID card.  I would just fax a copy of your FOID card to them to "cover the bases" and order the Sidekick - which is a non-4473 gun anyway.  Good thing we live in Illinois where we are so regulated and   well protected from all the violence, crime, and mayhem caused by muzzleloaders!!!!  I hope you get one and enjoy it.  Good shootin'.
CIVES ARMA FERANT - Let the citizens bear arms.
POLITICIANS SHOULD BE LIMITED TO TWO TERMS - ONE IN OFFICE AND ONE IN PRISON.... Illinois already does this.
