Hi. I'm looking to mount an IOR scope on a Mosin M39. Can I order one of ARMS M1913 rails to custom fit it or some other type of 1913?

If not, what is the best mount for a M39 Mosin?





BTW I got my first SKS about a week ago. Yugo with TONS of cosmolene. Cleaned 'er up and "baked" the stock to sweat the grease. Nice rifle.

I just mounted a scopemount on my 91/30 from Interordnance its similair to the orginal but it has a weaver type rail and it fits the round mosin reciever.  But it appears that it can be reworked to fit the flat sided hex reciever M39 too.  You could try them for an M39 mount maybe they will have them.  I did post pics of it in the album section here too.   BigBill

I've heard the side mount for Mosins is about the best mount offered. I've also been told to stay away from Advanced Technology mounts as well. ARMS offers what I believe to be a universal Mil STD 1913 with a "swing lever?" or something like that. I just wanted to know if with the proper amount of smithing, I could put it on.

What in particular have you heard bad about the Advanced Tech mounts?  I was thking about getting one of those sets and a new stock to redo one of those $39.95 cracked stock specials from SOG and would appreciate any info on the quality of those mounts.

Oh, just some general B&M, like it doesn't fit right on some guns or they are made for specific scopes, just general crap.

But what about the 1913 rail?? Does anyone know about that?

BTW does that split stock kit offer any M39 Mosins?

There is a mount that requires no smithing called a "Darrell mount" after the guy who developed it.It replaces the rear sight tang and is quite steady according to those who have used it.There is no modification to the rifle and you can reverse the process easily.It requires the use of an extended eye relief(pistol) scope.

I have a Darrell mount for my K31 and my M44, work fine, that said, CDNN catalog has one for MN's for about $12- 14 dollars that seems to be same basic design, check their web site for a catalog.

Numrich has scout scope mounts with Weaver slots replacing rear sights. Have it on my M44, works great--install in 5 minutes--costs $20.00

does this mount allow use of a rifle size scope or pistol scope.

The Numrich scope mount replaces the rear sight leaf, therefore requires a LIR scope (pistol), reddot, or laser.  Drive out the pin that holds the rear sight leaf, attach the mount, replace pin.  BINGO.      Also, they show a neat AK74 type muzzle brake for the Mosin thats on my list.

S&K built a prototype mount for my m39. I would think it would be in productin. It also is a scout type mount. It is very solid, and the rifle is extreamly accurate with this combination.You may want to check thier website,or contact them.
