I wanted to thank all of you for your consideration.  I am most grateful for your sharing your hard-earned  knowledge and experience with me and taking your time for the thoughtful replies.  Since first posting I have looked at C. Sharps, Ballard and Shiloh Sharps.  The Shiloh was one of the finest crafted rifles I have seen regardless of price.  But I prefer the lines of the rolling block, and the Lone Star craftsmanship is also out standing, so I am staying with that discission.  Calibre wise I think I will change it to 45-90 this appears to be the one that would offer the most flexibility of usage.  The more I read your answers the more I realized that the only thing I knew for sure was I wanted a rifle but had not fully thought out its' usage.  In 45-90 I can hunt anything in North America and if I ever wanted to try and shoot competitively the calibre would be far better than a 50 whatever.  Once agin let me thank all of you, who took the time to help me, and for your patience and graciousness while doing so, you folks are first class.

Thanks,

jon

FE352V8

I too think 45 caliber is the way to go if for no more reason than a better selection of bullet moulds. If you stay with this then casting your own bullets will be the next step. One that I am looking into now for I have been shown the light.....hard to buy cast bullets that are as good as the ones you cast yourself........Thanks again BuckeyeShooter!

FE352V8...I can decode that....Great to see another old Ford guy! Not many of us FE boys left you know!
