The old noisy, heavy,hot stand-by for serious coastal AK rain are the Helly Hanson commercial fishing raingear.
For the last 5 yrs I've been doing ok with some Cabela's guide gear (goretex or sim) designed for sport fishing - but its noisy too and lately the nylon cuffs have been getting watersoaked and really irritating my wrists. The velcro closures are really noisy too - but pretty secure. I replaced the pants with some type of Cabela's dry teck silent camo bibs and I like them better but some times my knees still feel a bit damp, and I wish they had belt loops so I could roll down the bib part on the warm days. And I wish all this raingear pants with fabric linings would have mesh or something in the lower 12 inches of the pants so water that comes in under the boots while wading would quickly escape. Hate capturing water in the lining and have it run up my legs when climbing back in the boat or up on a river bank.
After this fall I can't recommend the fishing type guide gear for hunting - too noisy - go with top line silent hunting rain gear - and I always carry my Helly's in the boat as back up. Currently searching for the perfect coat.
