i have a hawes single shot break open 22 lr. ive never seen another one of these pistols and am interested if anyone else has one. if so what has your experience been with it. mine has a white plastic grip, chrome grip frame and what looks like a painted aluminum barrel with a steel liner.accuracy is excellent but the chamber gets sticky if you dont clean it fairly often. im interested in  finding out how common these pistools are.

Hillbill,
Gun Traders Guide;
Hawes Favorite Single Shot Pistol;
Replica of Stevens No. 35.  Tip-up action.  Cal. .22 LR, 8" bbl., 12" O/A, wt. 24 oz.  Target sights.  Chrome-plated frame, blued bbl.  Plastic or rosewod grips.  Made 1968-76.
I know that Dixie carried these for a long time and they were inexpensive.  Why is it that I never see them anywhere then?  :wink:

The single shot Hawes does show up occasionally on Gunbroker.com.  Prices seem to run a little around $150.  I have two of the old Hy Hunter SAA clones made by Sauer (of Sig-Sauer).  Sauer also built the guns imported by Hawes.  These are also aluminum with steel barrel and cylinder liners.  Also shoot very well but all I use them for anymore is theatrical use with blanks.  (you don't hurt them if they are dropped.  A little black spray paint and you are ready to go again)  Enjoy that gun!  44 Man

My Dad bought one a few years back. It has the rosewood grips, polished frame/lower reviever, and the blued Barrel. Pretty gun.

If I remember right, its a copy of a Stevens pistol. My great-grandpap had one, and now my uncle has it.

Kinda off topic, but do any of you guys know where I can find a mainspring for the Hawes? I've tried e-gunparts, with no luck.
