Used a Encore with Virgin Valley 16 1/4 inch barrel in 308 for deer this year. Ended up shooting aprox. 300 yards using a 3x TC scope. I got the 3x4 mulie but feel a biger scope would be a lot easier. Need a little advise from those shooting pistols.

If you're using it for hunting I think the Burris 2-7 is maybe the best for the extra FOV but the Bushnell 2-6 is fully equal or better in quality with better eye relief but less FOV. They are the ONLY scopes I use anymore.

I would go with a Leupold 2.5x8 IMO...you get what you pay for! That said if money is short you can't beat the T/C or Bushnell scopes.

I have several Burris 2X7s and like the field of view. I also have some TC scopes that are OK.

Have to agree with Burris 2X7, getting ready to purchase a second -- with a greater field of view and a savings of $60, Leupold will have to take a back seat on this one.

Ditto on the Burris, it's a great hunting scope. That said, my two serious hunting tubes carry the Leupold 4x for it's small size and weight, and ample magnification for deer. I've shot them from 225 yards down to 5 yards and the 4x was great - I found the 2x to be too little in almost every occasion and it's not the best for low light either. With the 4x you always have the right magnification ready - you won't have to fumble around changing the magnification while the deer walks away.... :wink:

I like my Bushnell Elite 3200 2-7X. It is plenty bright and works well with my .308 Encore. I've yet to have it in the field but I've used it on 7X while shooting from the bench. The field of view is a little on the small side but I don't have to worry about brinning my arms in to adjust for the eye relief at all. It is the same at 2X as it is at 7X.

Quite honestly, I like the fixed view of the Bushnel 2x6, but the Burris 2x7 is great up to about 5x. I use 2x for most of my hunting experience. Even the 2x6 and 2x7 are set to 2x when I'm on stand. That keeps me from trying longer shot than I feel I can handle. If I can see it well enough with my 2x, I'm in range and good to go.

Thanks for all the replys. I just made a deal with bullseye on a T/C lighted 2x7. Out here the area is so open that 200-300 yd shot is common. This years was 300+ and way shooting from one ride to another.
