anyone..super blackhawk 10.5 in barrel?
« on: November 14, 2004, 02:16:00 PM »
just want to see if anyone owned a sbh 10.5. i got one a while back and will be carrying it to the woods this saturday. if anyone has one i would like to know what your's likes to be fed and did you have to do a lot of sighting in? mine is shooting a 250gr.keith bullet and 20.0 gr. of #2400 and it seems to like it but with the longer barrel i had to do some sight adjusting.

i had one and gave it to my dad.  i liked it.  he loves it.

a word of caution: IF you start  to notice that pistol hitting left after you make sight adjustments and the rear sight starts to get all the way to the right and you are about out of adjustment,  stop shooting.   the 10.5 inch, my 7.5 inch hunter AND  my 4 5/8 sbh all did this.   very soon afterwards the ejector rod and housing flew off the gun; the screw sheared right off the barrel.  i am still waiting to get a report back from ruger as to why.   these were NOT hot loads (310 grain @ 1000 fps).   i am sure they will come back from ruger fixed and i should never have another problem again.  but then i should have never had this problem to begin with.

not slamming on sbh's, just figured you should be aware of it.  they are nice guns and shoot very well.  just beware if you find yourself running out of rear sight adjustment to the right.

less than 500 through the sbhh.  i cant say for sure with the other sbh,  but i will guess not very much more than 500 for that gun also (i bought it used so i can not be sure-it doesnt seem to have been fired too much though).

i have 4 days to regular deer season opener and still no guns back from ruger.    it is not looking good for the myronman, boys.
