My first Buck with a Contender...
« on: December 11, 2004, 02:05:27 PM »
It was the second day of the season in Ohio. I was hunting private land in Muskingum County.  I had passed on 7 does and a small 6pt on Monday, and a 6 pt and a small 8 pt on Tuesday. At 9 AM he came by at a trot, and stopped 65 yds away, I braced my back against  the tree, and put my elbows into my sides, and broke his shoulder on the first shot, and finished him with the second.  I was aiming just behind the shoulder, but was about 6 inches to the right.  Not the largest buck, but one of my most satisfying.  I used a Super 14, 44 Mag with an Ultradot, factory Hornady XTP 240 grain.  Hopefully the pic is here:

Nothing to be ashamed of with that buck. Especially with a pistol. Nice job!
