Yes it will. From a number of articles in the past, on average in a .224 bore with cartridge capacities from 22 Hornet thru about 220 Swift, 1-16 will only stabilize up to about 45 grain bullets, 1-14 about 50gr, 1-12 around 55gr, 1-10 up to about 63gr flatbased and blunt 70gr. For the very pointy, boat tailed 62-68gr target bullets at least a 1-9 is needed. The VLD 75-80gr spears take a 1-7. The length of the bullet does more to dictate twist rate rather than simply weight. Length of the barrel (and therefore increased velocity), technically, does have an added effect, but its contribution is so minor that it has to be disregarded. The only way to gain enough velocity to contribute anything to increasing the bullets stability through a given twist rate is to increase the amount of powder burned, ie, case capacity. Again, its overall contribution is minor enough that simply getting another barrel with a faster twist is cheaper and easier in the long run.
