range report for new NEF .44 handi...
« on: November 12, 2004, 10:21:26 AM »
just got back from shooting the new handi. i had to shoot it with the irons as my mount wont be here till next friday!? they said they would ship it on wendsday next week!?
anyways. was getting one holers at 25 yards. offhanding hedge apples at 25 was no problem. the sights a "ok". i sighted it with a 6 o'clock hold and just ate 1 hole. i didn't shoot much paper though. just enough to sight it in. Pop cans full of water were fun to watch explode too     . they were flying into 4 peices most of the time. the hedge apples were all being centered (shot them with some old .44  handloaded hollowpoints) they really disintegrated  them . all in all i am pleased (and it dont kick either! felt like shooting a .22!). cant wait to put a scope on it then i'll be able to take those hege apples that are 100 yards :). Thinking of a 30-06 barrel for it for when for accuracy is everything at  200 + yards      8)    8) . great shooter and is actually a better gun than the rossi.

I love my 44 Mag Handi. I got the synthetic stocked one. I have not put a scope on it yet but I will soon. The thing is deadly accurate with 200 Grain Hornady XTP's. I havn;t tried any other bullets except cast bullets. It shoots cast bullets very well also. However it shoots cast bullets way to high so I would need a scope or taller front sight. What a fun gun to shoot though. And cheap too.
shot placement is everything.

The .44's are pile drivers. I shot a prairie dog with one and it blew it to chunks. I traded my barrel for one in .243 though, so I don't have one in that caliber now. But they are a lot of fun. :-D
Ohhhh, I hate when that happens
