Picked up a couple new single shots for shooting, and collecting this weekend! Both are .32-20 calibers; one a Stevens 44 and the other a 1885 Winchester Low Wall.
The Stevens is a 28" half octagon, factory engraved, and the Win. is a 28" full octagon, #1 weight barrel. Both are in great shape, with minty bores, just begging to be shot!

Thanks Bilesteve! Of course that's what caught my eye first! It has a nice set of sights with it also. I had the tang sight off when I took this picture, as I was cleaning it up a bit. Just some very minor tarnish to spiff up! The front is a Lyman combo, and the rear is a Lyman #1.

I was looking in my old 1912 Stevens catalog last night. This style of engraving was the highest Stevens offered. It was standard on the model 54 Stevens, and was listed as "Model 54 style engraving, for other rifles."
The cost of the 54 engraving was $10! The cost of this rifle in 1912? Also $10, so it doubled the cost of the gun new! $20!
It was a bit more in 2004.
