I have tried Federal 85 grain hollow point and Remington 100 grain soft point.I ge the best accuracy with the 100 grain.Evidently it does the trick.Lst year..one shot, one deer.
The more I listen,the more I hear....and vice versa.

45/70..it's almost a religion.

Poncaguy, I am from Braman but, I live in north central Texas.  My parents still live there.  Dad said That the pheasants and deer are thick this year.  Anyway my son's 243 loves the federal powershok in 80 gr.  The winchester 80 gr. is not quite as tight. oktx

I started using those in my son's 243 and it seemed like the more we shot them the worse they were. oktx

Think they have a coating on them, need to clean barrel good, shoot really well in clean barrel. I lived in Ark City most of my life, just moved to Ponca 2 years ago.........are a lot of pheasants and deer this year, and geese, and ducks, and quail and.............

No luck with  Remington's 100's but Winchester's 100gr power points shoot better. But I used the o ring trick when I switched ammo, so it isn't an accurate assestment.  :?  :?  :?

I use Winchester Power points in all my deer rifles, 150 gr. in 30-06, 130 gr. in the .270 and 120 gr. in the 25-06. One shot kills with all of them and they are inexpensive. I don't look for 1" groups, just good kills and have had really good luck with them.

I carry my UV for varmints and have not shot any of the heavier bullets,, but found that the Hornady 75gr HP holds a 1 inch group at 100 yds. Maybe try some of the heavy stuff from Hornady,,I think it's quality ammo.

Well, I just got back from the range with my new .243 ultra. I normally reload, but since I just got it I went to wally world & bought some remington corelocks(sp??) in 100 grain since that was all they had. And after all I've read about the 243's not likin' them, I was concerned, but thought I'd give em a try. I forgot my gun rest, but shooting off a backpack I managed a 2.5 inch 3 shot group at 100 yds & no KEYHOLING....so needless to say I'm happy &  I know I can shrink the group sizes down a little with  my gun rest.  Hope this helps. God Bless! :-D

panman, the twist rate for the .243 Handi is 1 in 10. I got this info from the sticky post at the top[ of this forum called FAQ'S.

This post has a bunch of neat info including twist rates for a bunch of different calibers, in case you get a different barrel for your Handi. It seems like most Handi owners get multiple barrels for thier Handi's this info may come in "Handi" :) . Get it, "Handi" :)
