Gary Reeder service

I have a new Encore barrel from Gary in 358GNR. Had a small problem with it shipped it off to him on Monday 11-08-04. Got it back today. Now I do live in Tucson, but it still is over 200 miles away. Thanks Gary for the great service.

What was the problem with it in the first place?

Have you had a chance to evaluate if the problem was fixed properly?

I've looked at some of his work and it looks good and he does some very interesting work, I've actually thought about having him make me a complete custom revolver in one of the unique chamberings he offers.

Just curious how he is at "making things right" when a customer isn't totally satisfied.  Businesses with a reputation for good customer service definitely are people I want to do business with, even if it means spending some extra money, it's worth every penny in my humble opinion!

Reeder service? A+++ IMO

Hey guys,
I bought a used 356GNR Contender barrel a couple years ago and I just couldnt get it to shoot a group (it shot patterns rather than groups) I tried about everything I could think of with no luck, different loads, scopes, mounts and even an oversized hinge pin from Mike B as the hinge pin hole in this barrel was grossly oversize(even the oversized pin would just drop through) I even tried a different operater, still no luck. So I packed the barrel up with a letter and sent it off to Reeder via Priority Mail on a friday and on monday afternoon I had an email from Gary saying that the barrel was basically JUNK and that he would build me new one and I'd have it very soon. I didnt think I'd see the barrel for a month or more so imagine my suprise when my new barrel arrived excactly 19 days from day the I sent the old one off, thats great service IMO.
Now I know somebody will ask why did he sell you a piece of junk like that in the first place, but keep in mind that I purchased this barrel used and not from Reeder (I made sure he knew that when I returned the barrel) so niether of us had any idea what the previous owner/owners might have done to it.
Yes, I'm very happy with Reeders service, and why not? he replaced a used barrel with a new one at no charge, very fast turnaround, quick communication via emails, and very nice work.........Oh Yeah, its a shooter too!
I'd like to try one of his revolvers too, they look great.

My experience was great, and I did not have any problems with the barrel.

I e-mailed Gary about rechambering a barrel to .30 GNR, and had an answer within two hours. Shipping time both ways, plus the time to rechamber took a grand total of 17 days.

The counter bore for the rim wasn't deep enough to allow the rim proper depth. He said he did not use the Starline brass that I was using and that the rims varied in thickness. I would think I am not his only customer using Starline brass though. Have not had a chance to shoot it yet. I sold the 356GNR to C85 not knowing it was "junk". It shot fairly well, I would get two shots to group and then get a flyer about 1.5 inches off. I usually keep things for a while and get bored, sell something to get something else. (don't tell my wife).

My experience was not so pleasant.  My money will go elsewhere in the future.

no matter how good a company is things can and do go wrong. so just because someone has something bad happen is no reason to dicount a company.

Rickyp, I agree with your comment.  It would be interesting to hear what happened in Sgtt's case with Reeder.  But like I said above, customer service goes a long long ways with me (and most people I'd think), anyone or company can make a mistake or over look something.  But it's their willingness "to make things right" for the customer, that's what sepperates the great companies from the ones I (and a lot of people) won't do business with.

I love to do business w/people that treat you good and provide "service", if it is ever needed, and I gladly recommend them to other people!!  As for the businesses that have poor customer relation skills and bad service, I don't go out of my way to post all over the place how bad they are, but if asked will tell "the facts in my experience with them".  Then you can decided for yourself whether you want to deal with them.

My wish is for more companies to put more effort into customer relation skills & good service!!   I hope the best for everyone when problems do arrise!!

No matter how hard one tries there are customers that refuse to be satisfied.  Customer service is a priority for me and my company, yet once in a while I get one that there is no reasonable (or unreasonable) solution to their concerns.  I have no idea what happened with Sgtt.  He may or may not be one of these folks.

About all any of us has is our good name, and with this electronic medium we can loose that quickly and at times for no good reason.  I urge people to be specific and reasonable with what they post and read here on the web.

Hey Moe,
As long as you brought it up, I feel I need to respond here. When I made my post in regards to the 356 I purposely didn't metion whom I'd purchased it from simply because I have never thought for a minute that you intentionally sold me a bad barrel, I never even considered it, nor was I making any accusation of that nature by my post and if thats the way you took it,I apologize.
I have purchased several barrels from you in the past and all were as described and I would not hesitate to buy another from you. As far as the 356 goes, it shot about like you said a couple nice and tight and then the next one would go wide, in fact a couple of times I thought I'd finally cured it as I would statrt to get a decent looking group only to have it open up into a pattern, it seemed to get worse more I shot it though. Anyway, just wanted to be sure that you know I wasn't accusing you of anything, and the sole intention of my post was just to let everyone know that Gary definately stands behind his work.

Mark, no offense was taken. I was just maken conversation.
I have had a number of .35 cal barrels through the years and as yet can not make any of the shoot well, as well as lets say my 6TCU. I know other people on the board can make some shot at 100 yards, just seems like I can't. I'm still workin' at it though. I guess I like the 35 because of so many bullet choices, many at very low prices.
