Opening Day Deer 2 for 2

.41 strikes twice at 80 yards.

First a 4pt. broadside 8:00am, second a 7pt. quartering toward me. 830am

I was using some of Hornady's new .411 spire points, made for the 405 win.

Looks like the bullet is still in the 7pt. Hopefully I can recover it! [the first]

7 for 7 on deer!

More Later,
BS

I made a new post with pictures[ 41-240], guess I should have put them here!

Anyway!

The Autopsy is in on the Seven Pt.

Entry wound on right side of the neck, midway between head and shoulder. Open cavity toward the head, about the size of two eggs??? Yes the bullet is traveling in the opposite direction! The layers of the neck meat are seperated, but no damage?

Damage to the neck is normal, Bullet the hits the top of the spine. A pc. of the spine or bullet is pushed thru the rib cage, taking out the upper right lung. [small pc. of jacket was recovered just after the spine]

Bullet exits behind the right shoulder blade, 1/2" size.

Deer droped on the spot!

I was using my Sako Bolt Pistol in 41x240 Weatherby, it is about equal to a 308 rifle.
