Handloading for new 30/06

Just got a new Ruger 77 MK2 in 30/06. I'm going to be using 168 grain Barnes TSX bullets for hunting, and the very similar Sierra 168 grain BTHP for most of my practicing. If anyone has any loads that have worked well for them, I'd appreciate hearing them.

I've good  success with 50.5 grains of Varget with the 168 Sierra MK's out of my  30-06 Vangaurd, very accurate load.  H-4350 is another good powder with 165 grain Hornady's.  You might also consider Reloader-22. Sorry, have not shot any of the Barnes bullets, but I would say Varget word work well out of your Ruger since it has a 22 inch barrel.  :D

At some point try IMR 4064 with a 150 grain SPBT such as the Hornady Interlock. My 30-06 REALLY liked 52.5 grains sparked by a Bench Rest primer. I bought a new Remington 700 ADL FS many years ago. The dealer I got it from suggested this load. I started reducing it by 15% and loaded in groups of 5 up to 52.5 grains. The first day the rifle was shooting .75 MOA.
Over the next 12 years I killed around 30 deer with this load from 5 yards to 250 yards.

150 grain Nosler ballistic tip

I shot 4 deer last year using 150 grain Nosler ballistic tips pushed by
58.5 grains of IMR 4350.  It gave me right at 2900 fps.  The load is extremely accurate out of my Savage.  The deer ranged were from 20 yards to 125 yards.  The bullets left large entrance wounds and ended up somewhere in the body cavity.  None of the deer had exit wounds.  All of the deer fell in their tracks.
