I guess this is where I should put it. Anyway what kind of finish can I get put on a stainless steel gun?

The surface of the steel can be marked in various ways and etched to turn it slightly gray, this looks fairly good.  Also Stainless can be blued although the process costs more and those who do it are a bit difficult to find.  It can also be hard chromed as well as black chromed..  there are also various powder coatings and teflon enriched coatings that can be applied.. and baked onto the steel.  Of course GrayBeard just painted one.. It lasts quite well and color is your choice.  Even a camo pattern could likely be applied.  This would likely be the cheapest way to go and would be relatively easy to touch up if damaged..

By saying stainless can be blued, do you mean by the hot black oxide process? If so how about a list of those hard to find platers. If not are you saying oxpho cream can be used on stainless barrels?

No, OxphoBlue will not color stainless to an appreciable degree.  There are several refinishers who advertise the bluing of stainless that advertise in the GunList and ShotgunNews.  I've not used them so have no recommendation.  Brownells sells a hot salt type blue for stainless steel. It is listed on page 210 of their catalog number 57 as Oxinate No. 84.  It will blue stainles, cast iron and high number Winchester M94's with the high silicon cast receivers.

I've used DuraCoat on stainless and blued firearms. The matte black sure hides the glare of a stainless rifle. Lots of colors to choose from too. I'm getting set to DuraCoat my Remington LVSF soon.
