ATT: LEFTOVERDJ (357 max reamer?)
« on: November 17, 2004, 02:02:27 PM »
do you still have the 357max reamer?i now have a TC Contender pistol with a 223 barrel and i am going to buy a new 357mag or 44mag barrel.i can get the 357mag barrel in a 12 inch length and i can get a 44 mag in a 14 inch length.i am kind of thinking more about the longer 14 inch 44 mag barrel for the added fps i will get out of the longer barrel and the greater hitting power of the 44mag.i still would concider a rechambered 357mag to max in the 12 inch length.your thoughts on this and if you still have the reamer would you rent it to me if i decide to go that way?

thanks,
jeff

Yeah, Jeff. I still have it. Cut one for a fellow a couple of weeks ago, and it's still cutting like new. The boys have been kind to it and it's got a lot more chambers left in it.

$15 and return shipping for you and any of the regs.

Jeff,
Go for the .357. The .44 mags are a dime a dozen.

You'll have more fun with the max!!

I haven't kept count, Marv. Fifteen, give or take a few. Not a person unhappy, either.

Way I look at it, this conversion boosts the Mag barrels from a minimal deer cartridge to fully equal to the .30-30 and maybe a little better, a lot better for us cast bullet fellows. Does so without burning a lot of powder, too.

Ok, I am confused here.

If you are ordering a barrel for a Contender then why get a .357 Mag and ream it out when you can just order the .357 Max to begin with?

Jeff, don't know if you are aware of this but have read that Eabco has great prices on their TC barrels.

Thanks for the answer.   That makes sense.

I would look around at some of the other barrel manufacturing sites too as I have seen them (.357 Max.) for sale from time to time but haven't looked for a while.

You might also go over to the T/C pistol section here at this sight and ask around.   Maybe someone has one they might let go of.

What ever route you go, good luck and have fun.    :D
