My interests are squirrel, various bird, fox, woodchuck, crow and general plinking - but I love accuracy. Is that 7 pound varmint .22 really going ot get better groups or is it just a matter of more weight stabilizing the shooter?

I dont want any groups over an inch at 50 yards!!!

Ive heard several people who owned both the American and Varmint say they were both about the same. Ive heard very few complaints about accuracy on any of the CZs.

Mine is the Lux. I liked it because it has iron sights. With its favorite ammo it shoots seven-eighths-inch groups at 100 yards. 50 yard groups are around .3" to .4". My son's Scout shoots .4" to .5" at 50 yards.

Both are accurate but made for different shooting, the American is more of a hunting type rifle while the Varmint is more brench/varmint type. The accuracy should be basically the same, if you shoot a lot and fast the heavier barrel will be better, for hunting the American would be better.
I like the feel of the Varmint better, got it in 17 Mach2, 22 LR, 22 WMR, 17 HMR.

My 452 American in .22 shoots sub moa at 100 yards with wolf target ammo. Great rifle and not too heavy to walk around the woods with. The Varmint will give you a little more weight of course. Something to think about.
