ruger all-weather in 270 wsm
« on: September 27, 2004, 04:12:52 PM »
I seen one at the local gunshop that caught my attention for $539 new. There is also a 270 win in the same model for the same price. Was wondering if anyone has has experience with the 270 wsm. I don't reload so I don't want to buy a cartridge that will not be around that long.

I'd stay away from the wsm' variation; and I'd look to get the price down on that rifle by a few more dollars.    Maybe you can contact Wal Mart to see if they still have any in their system for less like they did just 3 years ago.    I bought a .30-06 All Weather (no sights), I sold off later, for $379 that year!     I know, 3 years can be a long time, but I've seen some give-aways at the discount places over the years.    And they shoot, too.

I still have one of their all-weather rifles in .270 Win' that I did a trigger job on, following www.centerfirecentral.com gunsmithing tips.    It's one heck of a rifle and I'd use it anywhere in the lower 48 States.    (It might not do for Alaskan Brownies in close quarters, says Accurate Arms in their reloading manual Number One!)

Good luck.

I have a Winchester Super Shawdow in 270 WSM, like it a lot better than my Savage and Remington 270's I have owned. Shorter lighter rifle and super accyrate!

I am looking for the m77 .270 wsm.  Can anyone help me find one?  It is going to be a Christmas present.  I found one on the Ruger firearm website but of course you can't buy one from there.  Can I just go to a sporting goods store and have them order me one?

.243girl ...

Ask friends or relatives what gun shops they buy from and start there. I prefer to buy from local gunshops as opposed to Wal*Mart because of the knowledge and the local service they provide. Most shops will listen to your needs and order for you exactly what you want. Some other shops might try to steer you to another rifle or caliber that they have in stock and we can't really fault them for that as they are there to make a living like the rest of us. You know exactly what you want and it is a fine choice. The .270 wsm is available in 2 models including the KM77RFP with a 22" barrel. This is my favorite model and my most accurate ones.

That price is about $40 high for what is in my area. I know a friend of mine bought a .270 wsm and says he loves it. He is lucky enough to live in a state where rifle hunting is allowed and he has been successful with it. I have a .300 wsm and am not too concerned about "talk" about these calibers not being around in the future. No one knows what the future will bring and to say they do borderlines ridiculous.
