One of our local DJ's came on the air yesterday with a good story. He's been hunting deer for the past 17 years, never had any luck. Either didn't see deer, they were out of range, no safe backstop, wrong sex for the tag, always some reason he couldn't get one. Took time off from work this year for hunting season, still no luck. Came back from hunting, decided to take a nap before leaving for work. While he's asleep, his brother in law is glassing the ridge behind the DJ's house, sees a nice buck. He pulls out his cell phone, calls the DJ's wife and says, "Tell your idiot husband to get outside, there's a buck in your back yard!" Wife wakes the DJ, he slips out the back door with his 30-30 onto the deck in his socks and shorts. One shot at 40 yards, nice 9-point buck goes down like he was pole-axed.
The curse is over, there will be venison in the freezer this year!
I had to call him and congratulate him, those kinda stories always make me smile!
