45-90 Pedersoli bore diameter?
« on: November 22, 2004, 03:50:12 PM »
I slugged my pedersoli 45-90 today and came up with .456. This seems tight to me. Do any of you have experience with the Pedersoli Sharps in 45 cal? I would love to know your findings.

I have a Pedersoli Sharps that was originally .45-70, and rechambered for .45-100 cal. It slugs to .457"
.456" sure is a bit tight for a .45 cal, but it's not a huge problem if you're going to shoot black powder. I generally shoot black with pretty tight slugs which are a few thousandths over sized and find they work better at that size.

My twelve-year-old Petersoli RB slugs at .454" grooves and .444" bore.  It doesn't shoot jacketed very well, but does great with .457" RCBS 400s with gas checks (shot poorly without GCs).  Over a modest load of IMR4227 it groups just over an inch for five shots at 100 yards.  I used to win CBA matches shooting it, with 20-shot aggs around 1.1 moa, so the tight bore worked for me.
