They both have the same warranty, but the VX-I does have better len coatings, with the use of Multicoat 4 on external lenses.

The VX-1 is a better scope than the rifleman, but I would strongly recommend that you at least get the VX-II if you really want a leupold. Yes, it may cost a bit more, but it's not as expensive as their VX-III line.

You should also strongly consider the Bushnell Elite 3200s - they are excellent scopes for the money!

Regardless of which scope you want, The Optic Zone sells both - I should know since I have bought many Leupolds, Bushnell Elites, and Nikon Monarchs from them. Great Prices and great service.

Given the choice you are looking at, I would choose the VX-1.
