The December American rifleman has a field test of the Marlin 917V. Sub MOA extreme spread at 100, 200 and 300 yards, based on five 5 shot groups. I didn't think much of the .17s but now I'm thinking I may need one.

I shot smallbore competition at a national level in the late 60's and early 70's and my 917vs is the closest sporter rifle I have ever shot in accuracy to the tricked out Anshutz and Remington match rifles I competed with back then.

Better late than never! The December AR isn't the first article, there have been several in the last couple years that were similar. I have 3 .17hmrs and a .17Mach2, all are great shooters. Check out RFC for more on the .17s, you aren't alone in your quest for accuracy!
