sheridan pump air rifles

hey
are the sheridans any good for an all around low buck rifle??
i have a winchester 800x in .177 but was thing of getting a .22 cal sheridan with a red dot sight  think it would be ok for a few squerrils and
and some target shooting    i can get a new one for just over $100
and was just wondering if it would make a good just to have fun rifle

DIVR6347,

The Sheridan is an excellent pump air rifle.  Major drawbacks are;

1.]  The power is limited and it is somewhat noisy while pumping them up.
2.]  The scope you mount needs to have a long eye relief like in a pistol scope as they need to be mounted on the barrel.

The mount made by B-Square that mounts where the peep sight mounts bends quite easily.  Forget trying to use one.  The mounts made by Crosman that clamp onto the barrel work just fine.  This is what I have on my Sheridan.  Also I prefer the .20 Sheridan as it offers the best of both worlds, accuracy and power for hunting/target/fun.  Lawdog

I bought a Silver Streak--I think that was the name in the mid sixties for a son and shot it mostly myself,never used a scope though---keep the leather oiled.

benjis are great guns. the new ones have bad QC but the older models (before crosman bought them) they are great guns and will downa  squirrel at 25 yds. with a headshot of course
