I'll be surprised if anyone bigger than Wild West Guns ever builds a rifle around the 500, as it seems to need its own action size for best/safest results.  Bean counters might not support that move in a regular production factory.

THERE HAS BEEN SOME SCUTTLEBUTT ABOUT WINCHESTER OFFERING THE .500 IN THE TIMBER CARBINE. I ALREADY HAVE MY HANDIRIFLE SINGLE SHOT BOXED UP TO BE FITTED. AT LEAST IT'S A START FOR LOAD DEVELOPMENT.

it looks like marlin dropped the 1895m in 450  looks like puma would make a lever gun in 500 since the have one in 454

I don't think the marlin could handle the pressure of the 500, I think it is close to 55,000 psi bu I could be wrong.  I would be a great gun though

The Wild West action is heat treated 17-4 PH stainless. It's wider, taller, and shorter than the Marlin action. If you want one it's the way to go. You'll pay for it, but it's REALLY nice. Sort of like what a Marlin ought to be!

I heard from a guy just the other day that WWG is having to redesign thier 500 S&W, I guess thier other one blew up a few weeks ago.  Thats a lot of pressure for a lever gun.

There's been that rumor floating around for a few months now.  WWG denies any problems with their 500's.  I'd give 'em a call before posting rumors.

Why bother calling them if they are going to deny it anyways.  I really wouldn't expect them to say even if it did.  If you notice, I posted that I heard, not that it was a fact.  Calm down jack.

This is how a company gets a bad quality.  "I heard someone say..." or "I know a guy that knows a guy that..."  Why not just find out before posting this stuff?  How many subscribers here at GB are going take this information, true or not, and run with it.  Pretty soon it'll be on just about every board on the net.  I'm sure WWG will try to defend themselves, but the damage is done.  Plant that seed of doubt, whether or not it is true, and someone that was considering buying one just won't.

I don't work for WWG, don't care for the way I've been treated there or for the products they make.  But any company deserves better than rumor mill gossip.  Even Remington...

By the way, I am calm.  Perfectly so.

WWG has had enough trouble with thier reputation due to thier customer service.  They do make some quality products and I will continue to use theier aftermarket parts.

Not to side with either of you but I would like very much to say that the Marlin guide I sent them about 4yrs back - is fine. I have not needed any of the other services yet, as they provide and advertise. This carry of mine is and has been faithful to this day - as it should be - it is my life at stake. When they do research it seems as if they have proper data to support their advertised claim - please watch the rumors. I find no fault with them. Cheerio!
