Maybe this is not as rare as I think.... cause I am not into big bores. I like them little bullets zinging along at machxxx. Digger, you and Like2hunt, this is in your part of the USA. I found a MINT 450 Marlin in a handi. Laminated stock with checkering. I thought it was brand new, thought I had discovered the new mysterious cartridge, but no. The serial number started HPxxxx. I think this makes it a 1999 model if I counted right. Anyone really interested I will tell all. For a fee of course. :roll: Not really, anyone interested the info is free. Was a really nice gun, but man, what a hole in the end of the barrel. They were asking $275 and might deal a bit.

Our neck of the woods huh? :? mmmmmmmmm kinda makes a guy wonder. If the serial # has P in it that would make it a 2000 issue. Digger might be interested in this one, but I'm about out of money for now. Just got the new Handi 7x64 recently and now have oredered a couple of scopes too, so I'm passing on this one........next!

I've already got a 444 Marlin lever,a 45 70 barrell for my Handi,and my shoulder would shoot me if I bought another bruiser like that one.But I'm sure Lik2hunt could use something to tenderize his shoulder so he would'nt feel left out. Digger

Man I just looked up loading data on the 450 Marlin. That thing is just a tad shy of a 458 Win. Don't think I would be interested in touching one off in a Handi......less I had about 10# lead in the stock. My old arthurshoulders would talk to me for weeks about that experience. :roll:

Latest issue of the Hornady catalog has a photo of a 450 Marlin propped against a lioness, and no small gal neither. Owner says he took her at 25 yards :eek: He also says he hopes he is the first to take a lion with this cartridge. No doubt he is proud of his Ultra.

they produced the gun you describe in 2001 in the .450 marlin NIB price runs about $225 according to my 2002 standard catalog of firearms. It says: quote:

Ultra Rifle hunting
Single Shot rifle chambered for .25-06, .308 and .357 Rem Max. the 25-06 has a 26" barrel the other two are fitted with 22" barrels. Acinamon laminated stock is standard. weight is about 7 lbs. In 2001 the .450 marlin cartridge was added.

NIB 225 Exc 175 VG 125 Good 100 Fair 75 poor 50
and the pic it shows it has ironsand a cinamon laminate stock with checkering and a straight english grip.
