Can’t help you with any forums but those trappers that used those hugh traps must have been MEN.  The four that were in the old tool shed when we bought our place tell me that.  One of the ones I have is just over 4’ long and weights over 45 pounds.  When set the jaws measure just under 18”.  They always show on TV or in a movie some guy standing on the springs to release the jaws,  :-D .  I weight near 265 and my son is about the same and we together can’t compress the springs by standing on them on that trap.  It requires two big clamps to get the job done.  The other three are about 3’ long and weight around 30 pounds with 14” jaws.  Lawdog

I'm with you Lawdog.  The one we have hanging in the lodge weighs over 50 pounds and the jaws are unbelievable.  The chain itself must weigh 20 pounds and I can't imagine anyone lugging this into the woods to set it up.
