Scopes for Airguns
« on: December 06, 2004, 04:24:01 AM »
What scopes work the best on a springer airgun.  I don't have a lot of dough to spend on one,  but I definitely scared to put my nice scopes on an airgun and have it chew them up.

I have a Nikon Buckmaster sitting around that I don't use, that I though about throwing on there, I just don't want to ruin it.

Any ideas opinions...

Thanks

You would need one designed for springer type air guns, I use Simmons Pro-Air on a 22 LR and it is very nice, it is made for air guns. 6-18X40AO.

chunter,

First it depends on the springer rifle.  A medium powered springer, up to 700 fps., you can use the Simmons Pro-Air as that is what they were designed for(according to Simmons).  A magnum powered springer(above 700 fps.) needs the best scope you afford.  Forget the "Nikon Buckmaster", won't hold up.  Seen too many bought from Cabela's that broke.  BSA makes a good Air Rifle approved scope that has held up on a number of "magnum" powered springer rifles that I know of(including two of mine).  We're talking real scope killers like the RWS 48-52, RWS 350M and a Beeman R-10.  Check them out at http://www.bsaoptics.com/productlist.asp?ID=11&Cat_Name=airrifle22.jpg&Cat_Code=AR&Cat_Type=RFAM for yourself.  Lawdog
