CVA Optima or Optima Pro?

How much greater is a 29 inch barrell than a 26 incher?  Also what does a fluted barrell do for you?  Thanks

the fluting decreases weight an stiffens a barrel, aids in cooling. the flutes on the optima serve no purpose since they arent very deep! more for looks than anything,   the barrel differance  is your choice by adding your bullet and say 3 pellet charge you have turnned you 26 inch barrel into a 22-23inch barrel so the 29 inch will become a 26 inch barrel and there for give you a slight increase in velocity

In my opinion the fluting is not needed on a muzzleloader barrel. The barrel just does not get hot enough to make it useful.  It is more of a cosmetic thing in my opinion.:grin:

The Optima pro model has metal fiber optic sites, I believe the Optima sites are plastic.  If you decide on an Optima or Optima Pro  the best deal I found was at MidwayUSA.com
