any AFFORDABLE 10mm's ?
« on: December 03, 2004, 05:16:57 AM »
Is anyone currently making an AFFORDABLE (around $650 store price or less) 1911 in 10mm ?
Any USA or European (other than France manufactured) brand would be considered.
I currently have a Glock in this caliber and would like to add a 1911 in 10mm also, but am absolutely not willing to pay a price (more than $100 more) that is insanely over what a new reliable (without any high-cost tweaks) Glock 20 costs. The prices what most people are asking for USED Delta Elites is UNREAL. In my neck of the woods fools are paying more for these than the price they sold for new.
Go MAGNUM/MAX LOAD or GO HOME !
Always use MUCH more gun than the minimum required to do the job.

Don't know of anyone making a 10mm in that price range.  By the way there are lots of Colts out there selling for more than they cost new! Don't know that is foolish to buy one either.

Glaock29:  I'm not so sure about the $650 or less, unless you can latch onto a new or used Delta Elite for that price but, if you already have a 1911, why don't you see if you can find a complete 'upper' conversion for it.  I see them at guns shows - complete slide, barrel etc.  All you would need to do is fit an ejector (and the slide, of course) and that would get you a 10mm for less than your looking price.

Also, if you have a 1911 in 45, you can convert to the 400 CorBon or other similar wildcats - barrels are available.  Other than those suggestions, I'm all outta ear wax.  HTH.  Mikey.

I have a 1911, but the top slide conversion deal won't work; my 1911 is an AMT Stainless Gold Cup Clone, that unfortunately for some idiotic reason, does NOT have a removable ejector !!!!
It is actually part of the stinkin' frame. With brain-child ideas like this it is no wonder AMT went out of business.
