Cleaning question
« on: December 06, 2004, 02:10:06 AM »
I have an old Handi in 30-30 that I bought just to get the scope.  I shot it and liked it so I started to reclaim it--re-finish the stock etc.  When I bought it I gave it a thorough cleaning, took it to the range and was really surprised.  I always give the barrels a real good cleaning after firing - but back to the subject.  I sprayed some Gunk penetrating oil down the barrel, waited and ran a patch through--it came out green/blue could this be copper.  Has any used this stuff before?  Any ideas?  Thanks

I'm really not sure, but keep cleaning until NOTHING comes out.  Then run an alcohol swab thru a couple times to dry it up.

I love a project gun!

ping 925,  I think that green - blue color you are getting out of the barrel is copper fouling, could be wrong ( have a few times but seldom ) :)  :)
If I were you I would keep cleaning till I got clean patches comeing though the barrel. Might let some cleaning Gunk set a little while, 15 to 20 min.  Good Luck Marv.
