Do you guys trim to recommended trim-to-lengths? Particularly interested in 270 & 223. Does it depend on the chamber dimensions or do you always trim to recommended specs? Do you trim each time or only after reaching max spec or some magic length?

I don't like trimming them off any more than I really need to, so as long as the cases aren't over SAAMI spec or too long to for the chamber, I pay more attention to keeping the lengths equal. If the lengths start varying, I find the shortest case, then trim the others to match it. If they get up to SAAMI max or are getting close to being too long for the chamber, then I will trim them back about .004-.005"

I usually trim my cases to the half-way point between "trim-to" and maximum length. Trimming is done as a part of each reloading and rarely takes more than a cleaning swipe from the brass. This is because I shoot moderate loads, size only about 1/2 to 2/3 of the neck and load the most accurate load for my rifle that is consistently accurate over most conditions. Most of the time the trimming step does nothing but take a few extra seconds to reassure me that the case is the same length as the last time I shot it - not leaving a mark on the case neck. Wasted time? maybe but its my time and I enjoy it.

I trim to the recommended trim length (.010 below max). During case preparation I always run my brass thru the trimmer so that I get consistant loads.

I measure each time and trim only when over max case length. When I trim I trim back to 0.010" under max which is generally the stated trim to length.
