Do y'all keep extra bullets handy on a stock mounted carrier of some type? If so what kind do you use? I have a Beartooth carrier on my Encore and even though I shoot right-handed I carry my rifle slung over my left shoulder and have trouble losing bullets as they come in contact with my backpack. I have one from Uncle Mike's I think, that has a velcro flap covering the bullets but it is noisy to open the flap. What do y'all do?

I found a cheap velcro wrist strap that will hold up to 8 shells. The one Uncle Mikes make (wrist holder) holds 2, and is fine when you don't plan on shooting more than once or twice.

I like the bigger wrist strap because I can carry 2 shells when deer hunting, or all 8 when chasing rabbits. If you wear it just a little above your wrist, the shells never get in the way and you can wear it over your jacket sleeve.

might not be the best answer, but, I take along 4 or 5 extra shells when hunting. They are kept in my pocket. If wearing my Blaze Orange parka, they are in a elastic band sewn into the pocket, the pocket is zippered shut, no lost shells. Otherwise, a pants pocket or back pack works well, hopefully they dont rattle. I don't worry too much about follow up shots. If a second round is needed, I've never had much problem loading it. Generally one shot is all that is required anyway. Guess that's why I shoot a Contender and not an semi-auto with a big clip.

I've got an uncle mikes without the flap... holds 308's without an issue. I have it holding the shells on my trigger hand side... so it's away from my pack when slung over my shoulder

I bought and installed that Beartooth neoprene camo color holder on my camo stock. Being left handed, I had to install it upside down so it would face outward on my left shoulder. Didn't seem to make much difference and it does seem to quieten down the plastic when bumped. It hold six rounds if needed.

PS--also cut a small hole in the right place for the sling swivel so that I could attach it.

I like the neopreme stock cover but I also have a Butler Creek sling that has 4 shell loops. So far I haven't lost any ammo but I usually hunt out of a tree stand. Its easy to unload and put the shell in the sling when going up or down the tree.

I use a uncle mike elastic ammo carrier on my encore. I haven't noticed any trouble with losing shells yet but will keep an eye out for it in the future. I have also used the shells in the pocket trick several times too.
