How Many E-Mailed H&R/NEF
« on: November 26, 2004, 06:39:34 PM »
Hay!  How many of you guys E-mailed H&R about making another run of the .35 Whelen, Maybe in an Ultra this time?  Each time we send them an e-mail they notify their marketing dept.  If they get enough e-mails they will listen.  Talk about a good Bear, Elk, or Hog gun.  The .35 Whelen is excellent for that.  Hits Deer real hard, and works well on Moose too.

Thanks Quickdtoo. I asked for the .35 too, but I have to be honest...I'd like a .50bmg, but I know they can't make that.

Fellows the reason I keep trying to push H&R for the .35 Whelen over others is that it is a tried and true cartridge.  Also it is one they have produced before there fore the research and development have already been done.  All they have to do is make the barrels.  Simple enough.  It also fills a niche between the 30-06 and the 45-70.  Bigger bullet than the 06, and better range than the 45-70.  Plus for plinking, or varmits, it is one of the easiest to reload and shoot.  You can use the same .357 bullets you use for a .38, and down load to where there is virtually no  recoil, so it's great for kids to learn to shoot with.  Then as they get older increase the bullet weight, and powder, to match a .357 Mag.  Close range deer gun, great from a stand, and good for varmits.  Then when they are big enough, full loads with heavy bullets.  It's one gun fully capable of taking anything in North America.  Plus I want another one that I can have other high pressure barrels fitted to.  Mine is too old, they won't fit anything but low pressure barrels for it.

I'd like to see a Handi in the 35 Whelen,I've got .356win. in a 94BB, and a 9.3X57 in a model 96 Swede.But the 35 Whelen in a Handi would be a Hoot to handload for !

I just ordered a 35 whelen in a remington 700 should have it monday after noon. After all the talk about the caliber and what I had read, decided I wanted one. What I can't understand is why more manufactures are not chambering it or why it hasn't caught on?  8)

I was considering re-barreling my Savage to either 338-06 or 35 Whelen.

Still undecided.  neither bullets are going to be near as cheap as 30 cal bullets are, but I want a long range (capable) fairly flat shooting rifle (NO MAGNUMS PLEASE) with knockem down power for deer.

The 25 looks better all the time, but the 338 is no slouch either.  I just think the 35 might get by with less meat damage than the 338 or '06, at the higher velocities.

previously heard that there were pressure problems

and that was why it was discontinued. Maybe the .356 Winchester would be a safer alternative. Plus it is a rimmed case.
