What's the longest shot you have made with a .223, and made a clean kill?

Mine was 380 yds. and no exit for the bullet,also was not a instant kill. Its not near as effective as my 220 Swift.  Digger

Hard to measure...was almost straight down! By the size (looked small when he wasn't) I am guessing 450 to 500 yards.

However, it just wasn't old Carlos Coyote's day, since I aimed my AR'sreticle at his heart and I hit him in the ear!

He went down instantly, but there are several that I have hit perfectly, and at half that range, that take off on a short jog before the lead poisoning catches up to them... :o

Very few have needed a followup shot, though. But after the bear scare, I shoot 'Yotes with my .270 Winchester now anyway. :shock:
