First time posting guys so hey wats going on .... So here is my question im looking for a new deer rifle and i seen on tc site that the sell the encore i think where u can shoot a rifle , muzzleloader , shotgun , and rimfire .. Is this true , how much would it cost me for a lil set if i wanted to buy one like a nice deer caliber 270 let say , 22 , 20 , and idk to much bout muzzle loaders so cant say there ... this would be really nice if it was true .. thanks atv

The encore is heavier duty and can handle larger loads, but doesn't do rimfire (the contender will).

The first rifle should run you between 550 and 600. I got a stainless in .308 for $560. You can get them through Walmart too (if you don't want to mail order and deal with FFL).

Extra Barrels will run about $250. Not all forearms are interchangable. There are forearms for Blackpowder, Standard Rifles, Bull Barrels, and pistol configuration. The synthetic ones run about $30.

To me, the interchangable barrels are the biggest selling point of the Encore. Once you have the reciver, you can order barrels in the mail and not have to deal with FFL at all. That's a huge selling point to me.

you can get encore rimfirebarrels but they require a simple conversion piece, normally the conversion costs in the 40-50 dollar range. Some times you can find some reallly good deals on encore barrels and rifles on some of the auction sites.

Nope not correct. Life is seldom so simple. Since you made mention of the .270 Winchester that rules out the Contender as only the Encore can deal with it. Also I think shotgun barrels for Contender have been limited to .410 and maybe 28 ga. The Encore can do it all. BUT you have to have a modification made for rimfire or have a special barrel made for it. No factory rimfire barrels for it. I think you're also limited to .45 Caliber in Muzzle loader barrels with the Contender.

Why do you feel the need to restrict yourself to one frame only or to one fire arm only?

I would get (well I got) the encore because as someone said, it has more options with larger calibers...

I don't mind the lack of rimfire options... shoot you can get a lot of rimfire rifles for the price of an encore barrel anyway... not true for larger calibers.

Besides... single shot rimfire??? That's no fun.
