Hi, Yanqui!

I've played with simulated colour-case finishes on aluminum frames.

Try polishing to noral satin lustre with wet-or-dry sandpaper first.

Spray on Krylon Urethane Clear Finish.

Apply coloring dyes with Q-Tip cotton applicator swabs. I use blues, greens, browns, and reds dabbed on a palate plate. Let dry, and spray on another coat of Krylon Urethane to seal it in.

The finish is as durable as the Krylon Urethane itself.
