PMC brass
« on: December 05, 2004, 03:50:28 PM »
Last weekend my son in law gave me a bag of 30/06 brass and said I could probably do something with it. (yea like reload it for him   ) There were a bunch of R.P. and Win brass plus a bunch of military. I noticed on the PMC brass that the primers had been crimped in. Is this normal for PMC brass?
While using my primer tool on the mil. stuff tried it on the PMC and it cut just about the same amount out as the mil. stuff. Does all PMC brass have crimped primers?

I have some 223 PMC in the red and white box that isn't crimped but also have some plain mil box stuff that is. I think they made commertial and mil spec ammo. Have seen 7mm Mag PMC ammo that isn't crimped too.

Not all PMC is crimped.  In fact NONE of the PMC I've laid my hands on in .308 has been crimped.  But I do believe they do/did make some military ammo that was crimped.  PMC brass DOES tend to be heavier, some of it VERY heavy - the thing is, you never know what you're gonna get.   So weighing it before loading can SURE help your groups.
