How long would it take to get a barrel from one of custom shops, in your experience?

I recently ordered two custom barrels from Dave Van Horn in Arizona.  They were ready in 3 weeks, but he needed on more forend to fit on one and took one more week.  They were delivered in less than 5 weeks.

From SSK Industries a sponsor of GBO usually a week or less. I'd say 10 days would be a long wait from them.

Just talked to a very nice lady at SSK this morning and she told me 4 weeks. Now that may be just so you aren't calling after 10 days wondering where your bbl is and I can appreciate that.

If you order something really off the wall it might take that long. Otherwise a week to ten days is more likely. Unlike most of the other smaller custom makers SSK has stacks of barrels sitting already made up with lugs on them. All they need to do is pull one with right bore diameter and twist and run the reamer of your choice in it. Heck in the more common stuff they sell most often they have completed ones just sitting wating on your order a lot of the time.

You'd have to ask for something really wild for them to have to go out and buy the stuff to put it together which isn't so uncommon for the smaller shops. There are some benefits to being the biggest.

My experience with Bullberry ....once it was 7 months and the next was around 5. The other barrels are VVCG and that is now a mute point.....one they had in stock and the other was three months.

Shouldn't be. I'd expect that one to be a week to ten days unless it's a time of year kinda thing because too many folks off hunting instead of working.  :) Except in really rare instances they will normally have barrels for all SSK proprietary rounds sitting ready to chamber and ship.

There's not a lot more my friend, that would make me happier than to have it by Jan or so! That gives me most of the winter to play with it!!!! :-D  My last one from Bullberry took 4 months and I was busy with field work and didn't get to mess with it much. :(   Gotta get them work/play priorities set up better dang it.

I ordered a barrel from Bullberry a couple weeks ago, and from what I recall they were saying 12 weeks for contender/G2 and 16 weeks for Encore barrels
