I have a mauser that I've cut 5" off the barrel to make it a handier brush gun( with a scout style scope and montecarlo stock) It shoots very well with book loads but this thing throws a wicked fireball and has alot of muzzle climb, fun to shoot but not very efficent. How do you figure out what powder to use? I believe I need a faster burning powder I've been useing H4895 and BL-C2 with 170grain rnsp and 196gr sp from hornady, I would like to keep the fps around 2600 or 2700. any thoughts?
