Hey JPH45-
Back when I was in Tuscaloosa, I would go just south of there to the Oakmulgee WMA and hunt feral hogs. Several of the State WMA's are full of hogs and the officers gladly invite you to come hunt them down. Most of the feral hogs are found in the middle to southern parts of Alabama, but there is no limit on them as long as you are hunting during another game season. Rifle, bow or shotgun. Check out the Alabama game site(?) or pick up this year's copy of the State Hunting Regulations, both of which will show a map of the public WMA and a brief summary of species. Find the closest one to you that lists feral hogs. Go there and either drive the logging trails in the evenings in search of clearings with feeding hogs, return the following evening, sit and wait. Or walk through the hardwood draws or bottom areas in search of fresh 'rooted' ground. Again return during the morning or evening and the pack will most likely return to continue rootin around. Of course the third way is to slowly walk through these same hardwood areas, stop and listen because you will be able to hear a pack of hogs rootin from quite a distance. Check out Coosa and Hollins WMA's, they may be the closest to you. BuzzKill
