Hey i have a question, i am trying to figure out if the scope i bought is the new VXII(2004) or the original VXII(came out around 2002) IS it that the new VX II have the multi coat four and didnt in the original ones? Give me some help pleez

The easy way is to just read what it says it is on the scope objective bell. Old equals Vari-X II New equals VX-II. It's that simple or should be.

The new VX-II that came out in 2004 is the model that has the Multicoat 4 for the lens coatings. The pre-2004 VX-II's have the magnesium flouride.

Actually, its more complicated than that. The first Leupold VX-IIs had MC4 on exterior lens surfaces and magnesium flouride inside. With the 2004 models they MC4 all lens surfaces. I've seen on a forum somewhere how you tell the difference from the serial number, call or email Leupold product service; 503-526-1400 or productspecialist@leupold.com
