...capable of using the short magnum dies?

By the word "using", I assume you want to know whether they are too short and require a shorter loading press.  I would be quite certain they are not too short.  I don't see why they would be provided the WSMs are so popular.  If they were too short, I'd imagine alot of problems with sales; based of the fact that everyone who reloaded and got one, would then have to buy a whole new press.

As for the reasoning of the question, I think it is a good question.  So, kind of throwin' away what I just said :) , I'd like to take the question a step further:  If it is a "YES" to the question originally presented, how 'bout using  super short magnum dies?  Are they able to be used in a standard die press also? :D   Patriot

They make EXTENDED shell holders for many rounds. IF the case is TOO short, they willmake ashellholder for it. Try loading the .25ACP!

Perhaps my brain just isn't functioning in analytical mode today but I guess I don't even understand the rationale behind the question. None of the short or super short cases are any shorter than many cases long reloaded on standard presses. For instance the .22 Hornet for rifles and the 9MM and .45ACP handgun rounds. They are no fatter or at least not much so than other long reloaded rounds such as the .416 Rigby and .460 Weatherby among others.

So why would you have a doubt regarding it? Am I missing something here?

DUHHH!!!  You got it there GB.  I don't know why I didn't think of it that way.  My brain was not in-sync this mornin' I suppose.  But to put it simply: Hey, if the shorter pistol rounds (I do reload 9mm and 45 ACP) can be done, so can the Short and Super Shorts.

Its times like these where I feel like an idiot the most.  :)
