Bedded Stock- From One Action to Another????????
« on: December 13, 2004, 04:52:25 AM »
I have the opportunity to buy a take off stock from a Rem 700 bdl that was glass bedded and free floated.  If purchased, the stock would be used with an identical action (700 bdl). In fact, the caliber is even the same.

My question is.... should that stock and my action fit together well and likewise shoot well, or is it a problem that the stock has already been bedded to another action, even though the make and model are the same.

By the way, the purchase would be at a good price, which is my motivation for this versus an brand new stock.

Any help is much appreciated.

That's really hard to say for certain.  Glass bedding is pretty individuallistic but they should come very close.  It should be possible to make your action fit.  It would be a crap shoot but if your willing to do a skim bedding job it is very possible to make them fit OK.  It may be a drop in fit but it also might need a bit of help..Sorry but maybe is the best I can do.  Most should not be bad at all.
