Help on buying a used NEF 45-70

Found one at my local shop that just came in on consignment in 45-70 with a mounted scope rail and an extra 12 GA mod barrel for $125.  The 45-70 barrel doesn't look like its been fired.  The stock is kind of blond wood with a 1871 commemorative medallion in the right side.  45-70 barrel is marked SB2 and 12 GA is marked SB1.  Being relatively new to H&R/NEF is this a fair price?

 PS You can probly sell on the boaed here for more than that,
 I bought new 30-30 with 20 ga, for about 221 bucks

Excellent price.  Does the 45-70 barrel have sights?  Just curious--does the stock have the high comb? If it does it may not be a good fit for the 12 gauge.  Do both barrels lock up?  They should but for that price I'd be just a bit suspicious.  But that's me.

The heck with all these if's and buts, if you don't buy it for $125.00 I will!!! Thats a deal anyway you look at it!!!....<><....  :grin:

P.S.,  or wait until after hunting season offer him $100.00!!!! :-D

Ooooh!!!, old SSS has it bad, I think we should all get together and hold a surprise holiday intervention for him. We all know how consuming and devastating Handi-itis can be.
Handiholica, the medical term, has affected us all at one time or another. To help Quick out in his time of need I valiantly offer to take possession of any of his 30-30 barrels or Handi's as well as any .22 LR Sportsters and .17HM2 he may have, and, if pushed I may take others as well, including this new/used 45-70/12 gauge combo which has caused him this problem....<><.... :)

$125!!!.... Run, don't walk back the shop! If you later decide you don't like it you should have no problem selling it and getting the $125 back.

p.s.: Walk in with a $100 bill in your hand and see if the shop owner doesn't grab it, chances are he will.

my new to me 45-70 with a 12 GA barrel

Thanks to everyone for the support.  I bought it first thing yesterday morning after checking it over one more time and making sure barrels locked up nice and tight.  It does have sights on the 45-70 but it has a scope base already on it.  The buttstock is the shotgun style without the high cheek piece so if I put a scope on it I will need something low.  The previous owner has a remington buttpad on it and after reading about the recoil on this caliber in a rifle this light weight will be a good addition.  The pad was nicely done and the stock is a light blond color with a 1993 H&R limited edition medallion in it.  I would guess this gun has been fired very little if ever from either barrel.  Now lets see  if I start scheming a 308 ultra barrel for the birthday, maybe a 223 for my wife on our anniversary or is there a new 204 Ruger barrel available. then we can figure out a couple of other calibers for appropriate holidays .  I can see where this could quickly become a bad habit.

This is from the H&R 1871 website for additional barrels.
 
Barrel Accessory Program
 
    * Additional barrels may be added to firearms of our manufacture since 1987 only, with a serial number that begins with N or H.
 
This one starts with "N" as the first digit in the serial number and is one reason  I checked their website before I bought it.  Now if the story from the company has changed then I have another one I can't get a new barrel for but I still have a 45-70, another 12 GA and a reason to buy a new one.
