Maybe you should tell us what you know---cause I've never heard of it.

Least not in a bolt action rifle.

.22 pistol maybe???

Why would you assume he is asking about a bolt action rifle on a rimfire handguns forum?

Nick,

From my understanding these guns are no better or worse than the MKII. They are just a little different.

They added a loaded chamber indicator, a grip mounted magizine release and tapered the bolt ears for a more ergonomic feel. I think these are improvements except for the loaded chamber indicator. It looks to me like those things might catch debree or get gummed up somehow. They are also installing a fluted barrel. The fluted barrel does nothing more than reduce a little weight so the gun will not feel so front heavy.

So accuracy wise and mechanical function wise they should be the same.

It's up to you to decide if you like the additional features or not. I'm sure if you looked around you could find a last years modle still NIB somewhere.

Take Care,
Scott

If you are talking about the stainless W/fluted barrel, it is like the target but looks way cool(er).

I don't think they have hit the shelves yet.

Ruger Mark III Hunter
I purchased the Mark III hunter about three weeks ago.  Before buying it I used a friends Mark II and liked it.  So far I am quite satisfied with it.  I have only fired about 600 rounds so am still getting used to it.  I did find out that the front sights do get loose and need to be loctite-ed.  It seems to be quite accurate.  I am finding the rear sight V seems to be a little more difficult to get used to than the Mark II rear sight.  I haven't disassembled it yet and understand that sometimes can be an undertaking.  I paid around $400 for it.  Be glad to answer any other questions if I can.

If the assembly/disassembly is the same as the Mark II it's not as bad as some people make it out to be.  The first time you do it have the owners manual out and go through it step by step.  It's really not that difficult and it gets easier everytime you do it.
