S&W Scope base

I have looked every where for a scope base for my S&W 686 (L-FRAME)
  I am looking for WEAVER base's. Here are Weaver part no.
  This is for a S&W NOT factory drilled & tapped.
     48642 Blue
     48634 Silver
  Any help???    Thank's. :?  :?

Maybe. No promises but I seem to recall getting a base in error once for one of those that must be drilled and tapped in place of what I ordered which was for a gun that was factory D&T. I think I kept it and tossed it in a drawer. I'll look for it and see if it is what you are looking for and post back here if so.

I might not even find it tho and it might not be the exact base you are looking for. I honestly do not even recall the brand but it does seem like it was a Weaver.

95Road King,
I found a Weaver base that will fit your 686.  It has the three screws, is blue and of no use to me.  The only draw back is that it is for a factory drilled and tapped gun.  However, if your gun has not been drilled and tapped then it should not be a problem.  I bought it for my model 57, but since it is D&T for a Redfield mount, the mounting holes do not line up.  Let me know if it will help you out.

Only Weaver I've found so far is a new 401S. I still think I have the one for guns not factory drilled and tapped but sure haven't run across it yet if so.

I think the Weaver style base you are looking for is the Warne base that uses the factory frame holes. Brownell's has it.

   I mis-read your post. My gun IS NOT drilled& tapped, that's why I can't use the base you mentioned.
    This is getting to be a pain in the butt!!! The only reason I want Weaver is because of price. I guess I can go get a 30 dollar something??? :?

Actually I guess it kinda don't. Why not just go ahead and get the base for D&T guns. Have the guy doing the D&T on yours match the factory D&T holes. Then order a proper screw from S&W for it if you ever want to put the sights back on.

I've still not found the base I sure thought I had anywhere. I know I never used it and sure can't recall returning it as the error was mine and they didn't accept returns if the customer got what was ordered. But I've looked about every where I know to look and not come across it.

     Thank's for looking. I think i'll get one off Brownell's. They have one made by AIM-TECH that clamp's and boly's on. No D&T!!
  I have one on a K-38 and it work's very good. Didn't know they were still in business till yesterday. :grin:

I know that you are already looking at the Weaver scope rail but I am really happy with the Weigand Scope Mount that I purchased for my Ruger SBHH.

This is a no D&T mount for S&W revolvers manufactured after 92 but can be used on guns manufactured before 92 with a D&T.

Did you end up buying a Weigand scope mount?  Mine is rock solid...I was just wondering if you went for it and if so, how do you like it?

I went with AIM-TECH mount. Clamp on type. Clamp's on top strap plus you use the 2 side plate screw's. Have one on a .38 Spcl. and has alway's worked good. Was worried about recoil with this type but decided to try it anyway. Just came back from the range. Shot 158 gr. bullet with 17 gr. of WW296. Shot 50 rds. Nothing moved. This was with a red dot scope. I like it plus the open sight's stay on. Will try 180 gr. bullet's tomorrow. :grin:  :grin:
