Shot timer overview?
« on: January 25, 2005, 05:02:17 AM »
I'm trying to get an understanding of whether a shot timer can help me for bullseye practice. Can you help?

I want the timer to beep when it's time for me to start shooting, and then either beep again after 10 seconds, or at least tell me when my last of five shots was fired. Can it do that?

I want the timer to work reasonably well at an indoor range, with sensitivity of the microphone adjustable to minimize interference from other shooters. I realize that the situation would probably be hopeless if I were shooting 22 and the guy 10 feet away was shooting a 44 magnum.

I'm looking at the PACT Mark IV because it seems to be one of the best. Is it? Or should I be looking at something else? I would like a unit with a lot of features that I can explore, so I don't really want a club timer.

Thanks.

Hmmmmm......most timers will do everything you need, except the sensitivity part.  I use a speed timer 3000.  It's inexpensive and will do all that you said - except adjust sensitivity.
